(Reported by Military News Agency reporter Liu De-Qing, Taichung, Sep 20th)

Besides continuing to offer support to local epidemic operations, the Military 5th Combat Zone will also deploy forces to conduct environmental clean-up and patrol. The enthusiasm and serious attitude displayed by military officers and soldiers in epidemic prevention is testament to the military’s dedication to implementation of epidemic prevention. As follow-up to the sterilization operations in eight elementary schools in Xinshe District last week, and to ensure the dengue epidemic does not spread to the central regions, the military 10th Army Corps will deploy soldiers again today, including the 234 Mechanized Infantry Brigade, 52 Engineer Group, and 36 Chemical Warfare Group, to strengthen environmental cleaning and disinfection operations. The deployed forces will also join Secretary of Reserve Command Guidance Center Liu Chao-Sheng and other officials in Taiping District, Taichung City in the morning to conduct active epidemic prevention operations in Pinglin Military Base, Pinglin Elementary School, Pinglin Branch National Library, National Chin-Yi University of Technology and Sinshe High School and stop the spread of the epidemic.

During the operations, military officers and soldiers clad in white protective suits checked carefully for possible vector mosquito breeding spots and cleared the stagnant water in containers in the alleys to ensure there are no blind spots in epidemic prevention, performing their duties loyally in protecting public health and safety.
